Who Is Eligible for Membership?
Teens who have danced with a studio for at least two years and who are rising 6th-11th graders are welcome to apply during our application window. The application window opens March 1, 2026.

Teen members complete 15 requirements per year (~25 hours).
LEAPS Teens fulfill 5 LEAPS requirements by learning and preparing to perform the DWH original teen choreography for our community partner performances. Returning teens fulfill 2 requirements on their own time reviewing choreography and the remaining requirements marking choreography as a group onsite prior to 3 "performance" philanthropy events. New teens fulfill 2 requirements by attending a choreography event prior to Kickoff and the remaining requirements marking choreography as a group onsite prior to 3 "performance" philanthropy events.
LOVE Teens fulfill 5 LOVE requirements by volunteering at our philanthropy events, including teaching dance classes and/or performing for members of our community partners.

LEAPS Fortunately, parent members are not required to dance! They are, however, required to pay the $350/year membership dues. These dues cover our operating costs and allow us to provide support for our community philanthropy partners.

Teens bond with a group of like minded peers who have a passion for dance and choreography. They have tons of fun while spreading the joy of dance to those in our community!

PHILANTHROPYList Item 1
Teens engage with and inspire individuals in the community through their love of dance. While doing so, they experience valuable teaching and performance opportunities and gain important personal skills. They develop a love of philanthropy they will take with them into the world beyond high school.

LEADERSHIPList Item 2
Teens develop lifelong leadership skills that will serve them in college and beyond. They can take advantage of leadership opportunities including choreographying, teaching classes, public speaking, educational seminars, and participation on our Committees and our Teen Board of Directors.

FRIENDSHIPList Item 3
Members spend time together learning, growing and of course, dancing! Through these shared experiences, friendships are built and nurtured.

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION
DWH is certified to honor our members with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). We offer our members the opportunity to track their volunteer hours and extend recognition to our members for their dedication to community service and philanthropy.

As part of their membership, teens and parents receive a DWH t-shirt. Additional merchandise is available for purchase.

What is the application process?
DWH is looking for teens who are truly committed to making a difference in their community through their love of dance. Teens shall be mature, responsible, passionate and self-motivated.
Application includes:
* Teen & parent application
* Recommendations (2)
* Choreograph, perform and record a dance (15 seconds)
Recommendation links are provided in the application. Please send links to recommenders along with the March 31, 2026 deadline:
* Recommendation #1 - Dance Teacher
* Recommendation #2 - Other Teacher/Mentor (not a dance teacher)
Choreography should be your original work. Instructions for submission of the video are provided in the application.
