Who Is Eligible for Membership?
Teens who have danced with a studio for at least two years and who are rising 6th-11th graders are welcome to apply during our application window opens March 1, 2026.
Teen Members complete 15 requirements per year.
LEAPS Teens fulfill 5 LOVE requirements by completing dance-related projects such as choreography, or costume and set designs for our community partner performances.
LOVE Teens fulfill 5 LOVE requirements by attending dance related philanthropy events teaching dance classes and/or performing for members of our community partners, and volunteering in our non-dance related community and philanthropy events.
LEADERSHIP
Teen are required to attend
Kick Off (September)
and
Celebration of Hearts (May). These meetings are essential for sharing important information and bonding as an organization. Each meeting fulfills

LEADERSHIP requirements by attending training seminars and participating on DWH Committees or the Teen Board.
Parent Members complete 6 support requirements per year.
LEAPS Fortunately, parent members are not required to dance!
LOVE
Parents are required to serve as the Event Coordinator (EC) for at least
one event per year. The EC plans and executes an approved philanthropy event for DWH. This fulfills one support requirement.
LEADERSHIP Parents are required to attend Kick Off (September) and Celebration of Hearts (May). These meetings are essential for sharing important information and conducting key votes involving our general membership. They also offer a great opportunity to connect with other parents and build community within the organization. Each meeting fulfills 1 support requirement.
For the remaining 3 parent support requirements, parents have the option to fulfill them through LOVE (e.g., serving as the Event Coordinator for additional events) or through LEADERSHIP (e.g., serving on the Shadow Board or a Committee, providing services to DWH as approved by the Board such as technology support, legal counsel, identifying seminar speakers, hosting events, or a combination of these).
Membership dues are $300/year with a 10% discount for siblings. These dues cover our operating costs and allow us to provide support for our community philanthropy partners.

DANCEList Item 4
Teens bond with a group of like minded peers who have a passion for dance and choreography. They have tons of fun while spreading the joy of dance to those in our community!

PHILANTHROPYList Item 1
Teens engage with and inspire individuals in the community through their love of dance. While doing so, they experience valuable teaching and performance opportunities and gain important personal skills. They develop a love of philanthropy they will take with them into the world beyond high school.

LEADERSHIPList Item 2
Teens develop lifelong leadership skills that will serve them in college and beyond. They can take advantage of leadership opportunities including choreographying, teaching classes, public speaking, educational seminars, and participation on our Committees and our Teen Board of Directors.

FRIENDSHIPList Item 3
Members spend time together learning, growing and of course, dancing! Through these shared experiences, friendships are built and nurtured.

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION
DWH is certified to honor our members with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). We offer our members the opportunity to track their volunteer hours and extend recognition to our members for their dedication to community service and philanthropy.

As part of their membership, teens and parents receive a DWH t-shirt. Additional merchandise is available for purchase.

What is the application process?
DWH is looking for teens who are truly committed to making a difference in their community through their love of dance. Teens should be mature, responsible, passionate and self-motivated.
